The font downloaded as an OTF. My computer needs TTF. How do I convert?

My old pc (win 95) works with otf.

For instance, the 1999 program The Font Thing only works with ttf extensions. If you simply rename the font from xxx.otf to xxx.ttf everything works.

Are there really people who still replace the extension to change a file ? We're in 2013 people, come ooooon

There are programs that can only use TTF. One I've seen mentioned is for embroidery.

I doubt that he really meant that OTF does not work in his computer. It is likely program related.
