Babes Neue - How to add Latin charachters?

Sep 22, 2012 at 08:56

Hello,

On my site, I wish to use this font.

http://www.dafont.com/bebas-neue.font

However, my language contans special Latin characters ("ő", "ű", which this font set does not manage properly. With the help of a font creator/editor program I managed to create the two glyphs and included in the font set, however, it does not display them properly. It uses the Arial font instead.

Is it possible at all to include Latin glyphs into a Unicode set?

Any ideas how to solve this?

Thank you.

Hum, I've just tried Bebas Neue with the characters you're talking about (ő, ű ) and they work just fine for me. Are you sure you didn't try it with Bebas ?

No, it is Bebas Neue.

Have you added the two glyphs to the font-set and it displays properly?

No, I haven't added them, they're already included in the font :

I have the ttf Babes Neue and it does not contain.

Can you please send this font set to my e-mail? It would be a great help.

It's only the font that can be downloaded with the link you gave in your first message

So, how it stands.

Though the Bebas Neue.otf really contains those characters, however, when I creat my font kit here

http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fontface/generator

the output Bebasneue-webfont.ttf DOES NOT!!

Now, what?

Well do you need only Hungarian characters, or also other letters ?

Sep 22, 2012 at 11:27

I need only these two special Hungarian characters to be included.

Ok, so on the @font-face generator, add your font first. Then select "Expert" just below. Find the "Subsetting" line, and select "Custom Subsetting", then select "Hungarian". This should do the trick, I've just tested it, and I've got Bebas with the extra letters you need.

I cannot tell you how grateful I am, I have been experimenting with this for more than 8 hours! You saved my day, and lots of efforts.

It DOES work, my theme now handles properly these two special characters.

Thank you very much. Do I owe you anything?
