I'd urge you to pay for it, if you want to use it. Steve Contreras who designs so many wonderful fonts deserves to be paid for his work as does anyone who undertakes the long and complicated process of creating fonts.
If you don't pay, it's stealing. No different to hopping out into the street and stealing your neighbours car.
