I think the "tv" is not a font because numerous posts say it is just a hand drawn example.

There is an MTV logo font. And yes, it's at DeviantArt.

Hi, the font for the MTV logo is MTV Lowercase, a personal use-friendly font by 538 Lyons. This font comes in a folder with two typeface files, one being for the M, and the other for the TV. 
Suggested font: MTV Lowercase
BTW the font for "MUSIC TELEVISION" is Helvetica Black.
