How did you make this just open Avant Garde up directly in your font making software and then cut out the center contours or did you copy the letters in photoshop first?

it's a avant garde based font
like your avant garde sets

I make all my fonts by hand drawing the contours, sorry if you thought I edited existing fonts. LT Anomaly is my only Avant Garde inspired font, and still I made it peice by peice, contour by contour. At that time I didn't even own a copy of Avant Garde, so I didn't literally refer to it when making it.

Furthermore, I created LT Anomaly only to serve as a base to Frail & Bedazzled, my first and only grunge font. I didn't like the idea of taking an existing font and photoshoping it, so I had to make my own.

My other sans serifs are just that- geometric sans serifs. That's all they have in common with Avant Garde, I don't make Avant Garde sets. They were not inspired by Avant Garde.

I used no font as a reference for Champagne & Limousines, or Caviar Dreams, if any font inspired me with those it would have been Manfred Klein's Geosans Light, though no one seems to make that comparison...

When I made them, I opened up a new font file, started with an empty glyph, and drew the contours, like I do with all my fonts. Just wanted to make light geometric Sans serifs.

I do love Avant Garde though. With that in mind and your reply as well, I do reconsider how I came across with my question to you. Though I think I don't go about making fonts the same as yourself, you are right, I am inspired by the work of others as well. So who am I to say anything about what is inspired by Herb Lubalin's designs, or what you or anyone else designs period.

This font has a resemblance to Blackout as well, which also contributed to my questioning of your design. I have seen other fonts and design work of yours, that was really quite impressive (read this post if you care to: http://nymphont.blogspot.com/2009/05/ten-amazing-dafont-font-authors.html)

This font just seems so less inspired than that. I dunno. It's really not my style to make statements such as this, so I do apologize for the harsh question.

Hey, you know what, I was accused of copying my font LT Nutshell Library and this made me very upset because I know that I did not. I am no better than you, and I do not know how you make your fonts either. I am not the font police, and I don't want to be. I am sure your font would not be on this site if it were not good.
