Custom Font Design
Hello,
I was wondering if someone could help me.
I am looking at getting some custom fonts designed. Some will be plain and others coloured and I was wondering if anyone would be interested?
Hope to hear from you soon.
maybe you should give more basic explanations, like :
what characters do you need
what kind of style
how much you will pay
...
Thanks for replying.
I am looking to produce sports type lettering to print onto t-shirts
I have a few different designs I would like to discuss with the whoever is interested and I was hoping from this discussion we could come to an agreement on price. There is quite a few different styles that I am interested in having designed.
bit puzzled ... colored fonts? Can that finally be done ... and no-one told The Kat?
Is it not possible to set up fonts with different colours?
Are you able to do custom fonts?
As digital fonts are nothing but vector outlines rendering a shape they have no color info. Just shape. Color is set by the software using these outlines. So if one wants a 'multicolored' font some tricks need to be applied: 1. each letter has to be made out of different glyphs that on screen and/or print match position. Then in the software using this font the color has to be set per glyph.
An example how this can be done is the Madame where a letter is formed by the combination of a capital and a lower case letter with the bearings set in such a way that the two glyphs overlap. Then in an application you can achieve a (only) two colored result by doing something like this:
color A=black, color a=red, color B=black, color b=red etc.
Got the idea why this is not practical with 99,9% of computer users that have no idea of what they are doing ...
yeh, this really cool font was also made to be filled, using another technique (2 font files) :

I know it would just be black as you have explained above.
Yes.
How much would it cost to get this done?
Numbers only? Depends on the quality of the images supplied. Your example is far too fuzzy.
Numbers and letters.
What type of file would you need?
Both grayscale and black&white png, image height per character 800px. Be aware, due to the enormous amount of contours per glyph a font like this, even with figures only, will become a mega-monster. You will be much better of with vectors.
As the url sayz, it seems to be a Nike font...
As Nike is not a foundry or a designer there is no such thing as a Nike font. But, yes, there are type designs used by Nike.
