Broken Press

This project started with only one condition: the final typeface should be based on interpolating two or more concepts. The starting point was combining the world-wide popular, modulated Helvetica Lt Std with a pattern of points from the Sambaflex flexography printing system. The result of this combination was printed and further worked freehand with ink, then scanned and digitalized. The final outcome was a reinterpretation of a printing mistake by a broken printer, and how being able to shape recognizable letters based on the counter form produced by ink drops and splashes.
